Social Cohesion and Jewish Otherness in Late Medieval Catalonia

2023, Sabaté, Flocel

The rulers of Catalonia during the high Middle Ages tried to maintain the multi-ethnic character of their country, as explained by Maria Bonet Donato in the previous chapter, always guided primarily by the economic and ideological interests of Christians who were the great landowners and who were at this point adapting their beliefs to the values introduced by the so-called Gregorian Reforms of the eleventh and twelfth centuries. We are now going to analyse how this evolved in the following centuries, in the Catalonia of the late Middle Ages. Anàlisi i predicció de l’afectació de la processionària: Catalunya i terme municipal de Terrassa

2023-10, Serrat Alemany, Lluc

The present research work investigates the impact of the Thaumetopoea pityocampa (pine processionary) at a national scale (Catalonia) and at a local scale (Terrassa). The main objectives are to analyze the current impact of the processionary caterpillar and its evolution in the coming years. The used methodology consists in bibliographic research, data processing and conducting interviews with eminent scientists. Based on the analysis of the results, it is concluded that the current treatments used in the study areas are effective in controlling the plague. In addition, an altitudinal shift of the plague is predicted to occur, taking into account the IPCC’s RCP 8.5 climate prediction model. Finally, scientific dissemination of this subject is carried out to inform the public of the importance of controlling the plague.
