| dc.description.abstract | Este estudio analiza las aportaciones de la etnografía de red a la investigación de un grupo de migrantes multilingües que gestionan sus trayectorias transnacionales en torno a un locutorio de Barcelona. En primer lugar, se contextualiza la móvil-ización de estas redes en Cataluña, y se presenta un negocio étnico, el locutorio, como una institución de la migración y un espacio de socialización que sirve de punto de partida para teorizar sobre esta metodología. Se indaga también en el cambio de paradigma metodológico dentro de la sociología, la sociolingüística y la antropología lingüística (y disciplinas afines) que a partir del análisis de redes sociales clásico dio fruto a la etnografía de red. A continuación se explica en qué consiste esta praxis y, con ejemplos concretos del trabajo de campo en un locutorio, se argumenta que, aunque aún nos plantea algunos retos, ésta es una herramienta privilegiada para adentrarnos en las redes sociales actuales y entender qué significa ser una persona migrada en la sociedad en red de la era global. | |
| dc.description.abstract | This article analyses the contributions of the network ethnography to the study of a group of multilingual migrants who organise their transnational trajectories in and around a migrant-tailored call shop in Barcelona. Firstly, I present the migrant networks’ mobile-isations in Catalonia. Then, I explore a type of ethnic business, the locutorio, and approach it as an institution of migration as well as a unique space of socialisation, arguing that it is a privileged point of departure for analysing and reflecting on this methodology. Thirdly, departing from the classical Social Network Analysis, I investigate the shift of methodological paradigm that propelled the emergence of the network ethnographic method within the fields of sociology, sociolinguistics and linguistic anthropology (and neighbouring research areas). I also provide an in-depth description of this praxis with examples taken from my fieldwork at a locutorio. Finally, I argue that, despite the challenges that it still poses, the network ethnography is a magnifying window into current social networks which allows us to get to the grips of what it means to be a migrant person in the network society of the global era. | |
