Uso de índices zoométricos en la diferenciación racial del caballo criollo de las Sabanas inundables Araucanas (Colombia)

| dc.description.abstract | La FAO establece que para la conservación y mantenimiento de los recursos zoogenéticos una de las primeras fases es la caracterización. Los índices zoométricos son relaciones entre distintas variables morfológicas cuantitativas que permite determinar el tipo y función de animales entre razas y entre fincas. En el caballo criollo Araucano se desconocen sus capacidades funcionales y de tipo a pesar de su valioso uso en actividades de vaquería. El objetivo fue realizar una caracterización racial del caballo criollo araucano a través de índices zoométricos en cuatro fincas del municipio de Arauca, Colombia. Se utilizaron 52 caballos criollos machos con edad de 36 a 204 meses y peso vivo promedio de 318,6±40,0 kg. Se construyeron los siguientes índices: corporal (ICO), de proporcionalidad (IP), torácico (IT), cefálico (ICE), craneal (ICR), facial (IFA), pelviano (IPE), metacarpo-torácico (IMT), de compacidad (ICP), de profundidad relativa del tórax (IPT), de carga de la caña (ICC), y de anamorfosis (IAN). Se realizó un análisis de varianza para medir el efecto finca y se efectuó la prueba Diferencias Mínimas Significativas. Los datos se analizaron en el programa InfoStat. Los promedios fueron 84,83±3,4; 101,77±3,8; 68,64±6,0; 33,83±2,4; 97,73±12,9; 46,3±9,9; 99,09±8,8; 11,7±1,0; 237,84±22,8; 44,65±1,7; 5,74±0,7; 154,35±6,7 respectivamente. La finca fue un factor de variación significativo (p<0,05) para ICE, ICR, IFA, IPE, ICP, IPT e IAN. | dc.description.abstract | The FAO states that for the preservation and maintenance of genetic resources one of the first phases is the characterization. The zoometric indexes are relations between distinct morphological and quantitative variables letting to determine the type and function of animals between breeds and between farms. In the Araucano Creole Horse are unknown their functional capabilities and type despite its valuable use in cattle activities. The objective was to conduct a racial characterization from Araucano Creole Horse through zoometric indexes in four farms in the municipality of Arauca, Colombia. 52 male Criollo horses were used in aged 36 to 204 months and weight average of 318.6 ± 40.0 kg. The following indexes were constructed: Body (ICO), proportionality (IP), chest (IT), head (ICE), cranial (ICR), facial (IFA), pelvic (IPE), metacarpal-thoracic (IMT) of compactness (ICP), relative depth of chest (IPT), charging cane (ICC), and anamorphic (IAN). It was performed an analysis of variance to measure the effect farm and it was carried out the significant minimum differences test. Data were analyzed in the InfoStat program. The averages were 84.83 ± 3.4; 101.77 ± 3.8; 68.64 ± 6.0; 33.83 ± 2.4; 97.73 ± 12.9; 46.3 ± 9.9; 99.09 ± 8.8; 11.7 ± 1.0; 237.84 ± 22.8; 44.65 ± 1.7; 5.74 ± 0.7; 154.35 ± 6.7 respectively. The farm was a significant variation factor (p<0.05) for ICE, ICR, IFA, IPE, ICP, IPT and IAN. We conclude that the Araucano horse is dolichocephalic, mesocranioto, mesoprosopio, with rump convex line, brevilíneo, eumétrico and not meat production, type and speed, with significant variations depending on the area. | |
