| dc.description.abstract | The present study investigates the foundation of the Monastery of Santa Maria de Ripoll and the development of the patrimony of the monastery by using the available documentation. The goal is to show that the Monastery of Santa Maria de Ripoll was an active force in its own territorial acquisitions and in the economic development of the region. The monastery was a comital creation within a specific socio-political, religious and agricultural framework, though as time progressed the monastery became an integral part of the local community and simultaneously gradually developed into a proto-feudal territorial lord, shaping the working relationships between the people and the land. The monastery also helped shape the culture of its surroundings with contributions to the society of the region through literacy, architecture, and education. | ca_ES |
| dc.description.abstract | El present estudi investiga la fundació del Monestir de Santa Maria de Ripoll i el desenvolupament del patrimoni del monestir a partir de la documentació disponible. L'objectiu és demostrar que el Monestir de Santa Maria de Ripoll va ser una força activa en les adquisicions territorials pròpies i en el desenvolupament econòmic de la comarca. El monestir va ser una creació comtal dins d'un marc sociopolític, religiós i agrícola específic, tot i que amb el pas del temps el monestir es va convertir en part integrant de la comunitat local i simultàniament es transformà gradualment en un senyor territorial protofeudal, configurant les relacions de treball entre la gent i la terra. El monestir també va ajudar a donar forma a la cultura del seu entorn amb contribucions a la societat de la regió mitjançant l'alfabetització, l'arquitectura i l'educació. | ca_ES |

El objetivo es demostrar que el Monasterio de Santa María de Ripoll fue una fuerza activa en sus propias adquisiciones territoriales y en el desarrollo económico de la región. El monasterio fue una creación condal dentro de un marco sociopolítico, religioso y agrícola específico, aunque con el paso del tiempo el monasterio se convirtió en parte integrante de la comunidad local y, simultáneamente, se fue transformando en un señor territorial protofeudal, configurando las relaciones laborales entre el pueblo y la tierra.
