| dc.description.abstract | A través de la Exposición que ha dirigido la Ciudad de Cervera en el Principado de Cataluña a la Regencia del Reino y la extensa exposición que remitió el consistorio cervariense a Fernando VII una vez restituido el absolutismo podemos comprobar como durante el Trienio Liberal Cervera se distinguió por su significativo apoyo a la causa realista. Ciertamente, la desfavorable coyuntura económica suscitó una frustración social que unida a la creciente división y politización auspiciadas por la secularización del clero y el traslado de la Universidad a Barcelona originó importantes movimientos contrarrevolucionarios. De hecho, el 9 de mayo de 1822 un alzamiento realista encabezado por Pablo Miralles propició la instalación de una Junta Apostólica, la primera junta realista de toda Cataluña, dando inicio a la primera guerra civil del período contemporáneo. En respuesta, los liberales, ejerciendo una brutal represión, saquearon la población, quemaron más de cuatrocientas casas y arrasaron sus cinco conventos. | ca_ES |
| dc.description.abstract | Through the Exposición que ha dirigido la Ciudad de Cervera en el Principado de Cataluña a la Regencia del Reino and the extensive presentation sent by the cervarian consistory to Ferdinand VII once absolutism was restored, we can see how during the Liberal Triennium Cervera distinguished itself for its significant support for the royalist cause. Certainly, the unfavourable economic situation caused social frustration which, together with the growing division and politicization sponsored by the secularization of the clergy and the transfer of the University to Barcelona, originated important counter-revolutionary movements. In fact, on May 9, 1822 a royalist uprising led by Pablo Miralles allowed the installation of an Apostolic Junta, the first royalist organization in Catalonia, thus starting the first civil war of the contemporary period. In response, the liberals, exercising a brutal repression, ransacked the population, burned more than four hundred houses and razed their five convents. | ca_ES |
