Show full item recordOsteopathy has gained recognition within the field of medicine and
physiotherapy. Its recognition within society has meant that many people
use osteopathy as a means to achieving quality of life.
The purpose of the study was to answer the question, whether it is possible
to reduce healthcare costs using osteopathy to improve or cure ailments
related pathologies that people have. Similarly, to assess the current
situation of Osteopathy in the Spanish health system and propose it as a tool
to reduce healthcare costs.
Through a systematic review of literature data yielded information linked to
object research were obtained. At the same time a field of non-experimental
in order to determine the relative to the implementation of Osteopathy to
reduce public health costs lead was developed.
To reach certain conclusions, it was necessary to develop a work-study,
which included the implementation of surveys on 401 medical health
professionals framed within the "general medicine and trauma", and 401
users of medical services who attended a clinic Osteopathic located in the
city of Barcelona.
The clinical benefit of treatment and improving the economic cost medium
and long term was found.
It was established that the Spanish healthcare system does not guarantee
savings for the treatment of conditions that Osteopathy treats effectively,
that on the contrary, it generates more costs. Osteopathy reduces
healthcare costs.
