Role of plant volatiles and hetero-specific pheromone components in the wind tunnel response of male Grapholita molesta (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae) to modified sex pheromone blends [Research data]
MetadataShow full item record
The response of males of the moth Grapholita molesta to sex pheromone and plant volatiles was tested under laboratory conditions in a wind tunnel. Plant volatiles did not restore low responses to a high concentration pheromone blend. Plant volatiles partially restored responses to a pheromone blend with unnatural ratios of the pheromone components. Plant volatiles and heterospecific pheromone alcohols supplanted the role of a pheromone eelnd missing the natural alcohol, Z8-12:OH. The Microsoft Excel file contains the raw data for each of the 5 wind tunnel experiments and the Microsoft Word file contains the R codes for the analysis of the raw data, and selected output from the statistical analysis.

Ordinary glomeruli in the antennal lobe of male and female tortricid moth Grapholita molesta (Busck) (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae) process sex pheromone and host-plant volatiles Varela, Nelia; Avilla Hernández, Jesús; Gemeno Marín, César; Anton, Sylvia (Company of Biologists Ltd., 2011-02)Both sexes of Grapholita molesta, a key pest of stone fruits, are able to detect host-plant volatiles and the sex pheromone emitted by females, and to modify their behaviour accordingly. How olfactory information is processed ...
Captures of oriental fruit moth, Grapholita molesta (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae), in traps baited with host-plant volatiles in Chile [Research data] Barros-Parada, Wilson; Ammagarahalli Munishamappa, Byrappa; Basoalto, Esteban; Fuentes-Contreras, Eduardo; Gemeno Marín, César (Universitat de Lleida, 2017)Studies in Australia and China identified host-plant volatile blends from peach and pear that captured relatively high numbers of Grapholita molesta (Busck). To determine if these blends are attractive in other countries ...
Synergism of pheromone and host-plant volatile blends in the attraction of Grapholita molesta males Varela, Nelia; Avilla Hernández, Jesús; Anton, Sylvia; Gemeno Marín, César (The Netherlands Entomological Society, 2011-11)Control of Grapholita molesta (Busck) (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae), a major pest of stone and pome fruits, is successfully achieved by mating disruption. Under these conditions, tools other than conventional pheromone ...
