Even though paraffin interactions with plastics are known by industry, plastics are commonly proposed as
container materials for encapsulating phase change materials (PCM) in many applications. In the literature, there
are very few experimental studies of organic PCM migration in plastics and its effects on plastic properties. These
interactions are a case study of environmental stress cracking, which is considered one of the most common causes
of plastic failure. The aim of this work is an experimental study of interactions of some PCM typically used for
thermal energy storage, and some plastic materials currently used as encapsulating materials. With the materials
tested in this work, it can be concluded that, for encapsulating organic PCM, low-density polyethylene and
polypropylene showed worse behaviour than high-density polyethylene.

Effect of microencapsulated phase change material in sandwich panels
Castellón, Cecilia; Medrano Martorell, Marc; Roca Enrich, Joan; Cabeza, Luisa F.; Navarro, Maria E.; Fernández Renna, Ana Inés; Lázaro, Ana; Zalba, Belén (Elsevier, 2010)Sandwich panels are a good option as building materials, as they offer excellent characteristics in a modular system. The goal of this study was to demonstrate the feasibility of using the microencapsulated PCM (Micronal ... -

Study on differential scanning calorimetry analysis with two operation modes and organic and inorganic phase change material (PCM)
Barreneche Güerisoli, Camila; Solé, Aran; Miró, Laia; Martorell, Ingrid; Fernández Renna, Ana Inés; Cabeza, Luisa F. (Elsevier, 2013)Phase Change Materials (PCM) allow storing thermal energy as latent heat when phase change occurs. In order to characterize these materials the phase change enthalpy and temperature should be perfectly known. Differential ...
