Secció d'Arqueologia, Prehistòria i Història Antiga, 2019) Hamon, CarolineThe alluvial valleys and loess plateaux of North-Western Europe were first colonised at the end of the 6th millennium BC by agricultural populations from Central Europe. They introduced a number of farming, architectural, craft and food processing techniques. Among their material culture, macrolithic tools played a major role as seen by polishers, symbols of the new technique of polished stone. They also introduced querns, tools essential to process cereals. This study of the Early Neolithic querns in this part of Europe aims to advance the understanding of technical systems and the economy of early Neolithic societies.
